Sony Xperia P set for MWC 2012 unveil

The Xperia Nypon (LT22i) looks set to launch as the Sony Xperia P, joining the Xperia S and forthcoming Xperia U in Sony's alphabetical stable.

The leak has come via the Indonesian Telecoms Regulatory body, which was also responsible for the leak of the Xperia U (Kumquat) name earlier this month.

It seems Sony is to follow the letter-base naming scheme for its self titled handsets, after taking full control of Sony Ericsson at the end of last year.

In Depth: Why the future of TV is gesture controlled

Beyond the remote control: using gestures

Who needs buttons and onscreen menus when our hands and feet lay idle?

It was the Nintendo Wii that first got us moving, before augmented reality apps and games-stuffed smartphones had us waving them in a ridiculous figure-of-eight, but so far the humble television has remained stoically still.

As the dust settles on CES 2012 that's all set to change, with the big TV brands revealing in Las Vegas that...

Dixons chief defects to Apple retail

John Browett probably never thought the day would come when a new job would net him so many virtual column inches – but it has, because he's ditched his post as CEO of Dixons Retail group to become Apple's new VP of retail.

Tim Cook himself (Apple's CEO to those of you not in the know) seems quite excited to have poached Browett for Apple's global retail mission:

"Our retail stores are all about customer service and John shares that...

Microsoft Office 15 technical preview opens

Microsoft has launched its technical preview of Office 15, promising a full public beta this summer.

If we were building a new version of Office, we'd probably give it an exciting codename like Office Excalibur or Office Opossum – you know, something that stays with you while subtly bigging up the product (do not underestimate the opossum).

Not Microsoft though – no, Ballmer's babies have gone with the thoroughly unimaginative Office 15 which t...

Review: Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 OverClock Edition

Overview

Sapphire has waded in first with its take on AMD's latest HD 7000 series card, the Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 OverClock edition.

Unlike the AMD Radeon HD 7970 there are unlikely to be very many strictly reference models of the Radeon HD 7950. Instead we're more likely to see card manufacturers taking the opportunity to put their own spin on the PCB, clocks and cooling.

The HD 7970 was a reference model all the way down the line, with...

AMD is really putting the pressure on Nvidia now with its second release of the new AMD HD 7000 graphics card generation, the AMD Radeon HD 7950.

Nvidia is still sitting back waiting for the right moment to strike back, but can it recover from these two quick blows?
